The riveting excerpts below are from the revealing accounts of 20 award-winning journalists in the highly acclaimed book Into the Buzzsaw. These courageous writers were prevented by corporate media ownership from reporting major news stories. Some were even fired or laid off. They have won numerous awards, including several Emmys and a Pulitzer. Join in building a better world by helping to spread this news across the land.
Jane Akre—Fox News. After our struggle to air an honest report [on hormones in milk], Fox fired the general manager [of our station]. The new GM said that if we didn’t agree to changes that the lawyers were insisting upon, we’d be fired for insubordination in 48 hours. We pleaded with [him] to look at the facts we’d uncovered. His reply: “We paid $3 billion dollars for these stations. We’ll tell you what the news is. The news is what we say it is!” [After we refused] Fox’s GM presented us an agreement that would give us a full year of salary, and benefits worth close to $200,000, but with strings attached: no mention of how Fox covered up the story and no opportunity to ever expose the facts. [After declining] we were fired. (click for more)

You probably didn’t know that CNN censored Putin for being just too darn sensible. Yep, it’s true. About two weeks ago, Putin gave the network an exclusive 30-minute interview. And you know what happened? Nothing. It was never allowed to air. CNN doesn’t know it yet, but that decision might have cost them their Russian broadcasting rights.
On August 29, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with senior political correspondent Matthew Chance for a CNN exclusive interview. “This was unprecedented access to Russia’s powerful prime minister, the former KGB spy now increasingly at odds with Washington,” an overly dramatic voice-over introduced the segment as Chance and Putin enjoyed pre-game banter and a walk through the courtyard of Putin’s palatial Sochi residence. Once seated, Chance didn’t waste any time with his provocative questions:
Matthew Chance: But it’s been no secret either that for years you’ve been urging the West to take more seriously Russia’s concerns about international issues. For instance, about NATO’s expansion, about deployment of missile defense systems in eastern Europe. Wasn’t this conflict a way of demonstrating that in this region, it’s Russia that’s the power, not NATO and certainly not the United States?
Google will have to turn over every record of every video watched by YouTube users, including users’ names and IP addresses, to Viacom, which is suing Google for allowing clips of its copyright videos to appear on YouTube, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Viacom wants the data to prove that infringing material is more popular than user-created videos, which could be used to increase Google’s liability if it is found guilty of contributory infringement.
Viacom filed suit against Google in March 2007, seeking more than $1 billion in damages for allowing users to upload clips of Viacom’s copyright material. Google argues that the law provides a safe harbor for online services so long as they comply with copyright takedown requests.
Although Google argued that turning over the data would invade its users’ privacy, the judge’s ruling (.pdf) described that argument as “speculative” and ordered Google to turn over the logs on a set of four tera-byte hard drives.

A dramatic new footage of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination today lent credence to the claim by Pakistan People’s Party that she was shot dead - a version vehemently contradicted by the government. The footage aired by Britain’s Channel 4 and subsequently beamed by Pakistani TV channels showed that Bhutto, who stood at the sun-roof of her bulletproof vehicle, had fallen into the car after shots were fired and before a suicide bomber detonated explosives after the Rawalpindi rally on Dec 27.
This was contrary to the government’s account that the force of the blast had thrown Bhutto against a metal lever on the car’s sun-roof, causing a fatal skull fracture.

We all know the government and the federal government specifically in the US has become more and more clandestine. Now, from opengovernment.org is a report card indicating just how dire the situation is. Since 2001, secrecy has increased in a number of categories. In the court system - “While the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court does not reveal much about its activities, the Department of Justice reported that the FISC approved 2,176 orders — rejecting one — in 2006.” In regard to the bloated defense budgets, “18% of DOD FY 2007 Acquisition Budget Is Classified or “Black”. “Black” programs accounted for 18 percent of the (FY) 2007 Department of Defense (DOD) acquisition funding of $31.5 billion, requested in 2006. Classified acquisition funding has more than doubled in real terms since FY 1995.” All indicators are that secrecy continues to rise. Despite the seemingly grim outlook, there are a number of government sites that can be used to help find some of the more mundane and often overlooked information. Places like the CIA World Factbook, National Archives and Library of Congress are just a few of the many sites to provide such insight and data.

Oct. 15, 2007 issue - The colonel was furious. “Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers.” He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad’s Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company. Asked to address this and other allegations in this story, Blackwater spokesperson Anne Tyrrell said, “This type of gossip has led to many soap operas in the press.

KIRKLAND, Washington - Responding to questions from local activists during a recent campaign stop, Rudy Giuliani made a strange claim that air quality reports concerning Ground Zero were “open” and “public” despite a recent publicized controversy over the suppressed and intentionally misleading reports released in the aftermath of 9/11.
Giuliani was polite enough to give formal answers to questions from members of WeAreChange Seattle who were concerned about Osama bin Laden– who remains free in Pakistan– and Ground Zero first responders– who remain sick and dying without health care or other public support.
The Navy, the worlds top of the food chain military organization is bowing to pressure from concerned citizens over their architecture on a military barracks in San Diego. They are going to overhaul the grounds and roof panels so the thing doesn’t look like a swastika any longer. The Navy claims that a set of buildings with a perfect resemblance of a swastika facing exactly due north were not laid out with an absolute preconceived foreknowledge. This is to assume the American public is as dense as they think we all are.

Official Account of 9/11 a “Joke” and a “Cover-up”
September 24, 2007 – Seven CIA veterans have severely criticized the official account of 9/11 and have called for a new investigation. “I think at simplest terms, there’s a cover-up. The 9/11 Report is a joke,” said Raymond McGovern, former Chairman of the National Intelligence Council (NIC) and 27-year veteran of the CIA. “There are a whole bunch of unanswered questions. And the reason they’re unanswered is because this administration will not answer the questions,” he said. McGovern, who is also the founder of VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity), is one of many signers of a petition to reinvestigate 9/11.[1]

A 9/11 first responder has gone on the record to describe how he heard a demolition-style countdown precede the collapse of WTC 7, eyewitness testimony that dovetails with other EMT’s and rescue personnel who were also told that Building 7 was going to be "brought down".
Earlier this year, we reported on the testimony of an anonymous EMT named Mike who told Loose Change producer Dylan Avery that hundreds of emergency rescue personnel were told over bullhorns that Building 7, a 47 story skyscraper adjacent the twin towers that was not hit by a plane yet imploded symmetrically later in the afternoon on 9/11, was about to be "pulled" and that a 20 second radio countdown preceded its collapse.
That account was backed up by another ground zero rescue worker who went on the record with her full name. Volunteer EMT Indira Singh described to a radio show how she learned that WTC 7 was going to be "brought down" and the context was clear that it was to be deliberately demolished.
In addition, former NYPD officer Craig Bartmer described hearing bombs tear down the building as he fled the collapse.
Now another ground zero first responder has shed more light on how he heard the countdown moments before attempting to escape the collapse of Building 7 as a stampede ensued.
From WeAreChange in NY 9/8/07
Today, Saturday September 8th, 2007 was one of the most intense street actions that the 911 truth movement has ever made. We met at Ground Zero at Noon to continue our Saturday street actions, this time with 5-10 times the people! It was an extremely hot and sunny day with little shade anywhere near the WTC Path station, and despite this, thousands of people stopped to take and read a flyer, or read a poster, and the overwhelming majority seemed willing to listen. There were very few fiery disagreements the entire time at the former WTC site.
Then we moved uptown, to the heart of NYC, Times Square, for another 5 hours on the street. We set up on the center island and well over 100 activists handed out over 10,000 flyers to the public. Alex Jones made his arrival to New York and joined us at the center of Times Square.
Word came in that Geraldo Rivera was giving a live broadcast only a few blocks away. A truth squad quickly dispached itself to the scene. There, the group chanted a deafening “911 Was An Inside Job” endlessly. The police were concerned with us blocking the sidewalk, but so long there was a clear path we remained about 20 feet from Geraldo. All of the signs and banners were visible on TV, and it just happened to be up on the jumbo screen in the middle of Times Square. Then the rest of the group saw Alex Jones was suddlenly pulled aside and arrested by police.
Groups headed out and searched for the precint Alex was taken to. After finding the location, the rest of the group met there and demanded Alex’s release. Within only a few hours, we got what we wanted!
Here is a quick Raw video of some of the action!

In an online editorial yesterday, Joel S. Hirschhorn, PhD, former Senior Staff Member of the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), called for a new investigation of 9/11. “First, let the technical truth emerge. Then, if necessary, cope with the inevitable political, conspiracy and other questions. But let us not allow a possible painful truth block the primary task of determining once and for all what caused the collapse of the WTC towers and building no. 7.” Read the rest of this entry »

U.S. Navy ‘Top Gun’ pilot, Commander Ralph Kolstad, started questioning the official account of 9/11 within days of the event. “It just didn’t make any sense to me,” he said. And now 6 years after 9/11 he says, “When one starts using his own mind, and not what one was told, there is very little to believe in the official story.” Read the rest of this entry »

Six years after 9/11, more than a third of Americans believe the attacks were an inside job. Are 9/11 Truth groups a convenient harbor for conspiracy theorists, crackpots, and lizard-man chasing coincidence-hunters, or are they actually onto something?

The United States has a “shock and awe” plan designed to annihilate Iran’s military, in the event of an attack.
