Long-time journalist Robert Scheer examines the expansion of America’s military presence throughout the world in the upcoming The Pornography of Power.
Though a liberal, Sheer’s views echo those of President Dwight Eisenhower, who, in his farewell speech to the American people, spoke about the need to guard against the growing influence of the military-industrial complex. A Vietnam correspondent in the 60s, Sheer was managing editor and editor in chief of Ramparts magazine, the national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times for almost two decades, and is currently editor-in-chief of Truthdig.com.
Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with University Book Store.
